Carmelo Sigona

|
Hi!
I’m Carmelo, one of the original brothers (the handsome one) who started this business in 1975 out of an absolute love for the delicious flavors of the world and wanting to bring these home to share with everyone as well as showcasing the best of the best in local farming and the wonders they produce. I am passionate about cooking, sharing recipes, knowledge and of course, did I mention cooking? I love being a part of our family and people being able to come together enjoying all the small things that make them smile and bringing full circle this huge part of my never ending dream. Thank you so much for allowing us, myself to be a part of this with you.

John Sigona

Hi, my name is John Sigona Jr…thanks for checking in!
Along with my brothers Carmelo and Paul, I (the handsome one), am an owner and founder of Sigona’s Farmers Market. It’s pretty cool to offer people the very best our land has to offer, to build an honest, caring business environment and to work in an indoor/outdoor setting surrounded by nature’s most brilliant colors and fragrances.
I have contributed lots over the years. Just to mention one thing, I’m the buyer of over 150 dried fruit and nuts. There are some very unique items and very special growers and processors I have the privilege of knowing. Hey, when you visit us, you will likely catch me on the floor offering you a sample of our spectacular organically grown Dried Kent Mangos…they are truly incredible!
So, I invite you to be our guest and look forward to seeing you real soon!!

Paul Sigona

Hi, I’m Paul Sigona, one of the brothers (the handsome one) and founders of Sigona’s Farmer Market. I am general manager of the Redwood City store.
I feel that I am so blessed to live in this area and have such an abundance of produce at our finger tips. I’m grateful for having the chance to enjoy all of our local fruits… cherries, peaches and nectarines, just to name a few. One thing I enjoy most about this business is being able to share all these wonderful items with you. Watching our customers taste a juicy peach or nectarine and seeing that big smile of approval makes it all worth while. Thanks to all of you for your support throughout the years. Looking forward to sharing these wonderful items with you!

Rob Sigona

Hi I’m Robbie Sigona, the produce buyer for Sigona’s. I started at Sigona’s in 1992 at 18 years old. I remember driving up in the summer from Morgan Hill in my brother Rich’s convertible Fiat at 13 years old to work as a courtesy clerk. The produce business has been an integral part of my entire life. As a kid there was always fresh fruit and veggies in the house. Now my wife and two boys get to share in that same experience.
Being the produce buyer for Sigona’s is wonderful job. I get to taste all of the produce that I buy! If it’s not good enough for me then it’s not good enough for my customers. I get to speak directly to the small family farmer who grows and harvests the produce, usually with one of his family members.
After I finish my early morning buying and watch the sun rise, I come to the Redwood City store. This is the most rewarding part of my job. I get to see all of the beautiful produce that I just bought that early morning displayed. I love speaking to customers about the produce or about what’s going on their lives. I want to thank all of our loyal customers who have supported us all of these years and I look forward to meeting more. So next time you’re in ask for me and we’ll chat about produce or anything else that comes up.

Jimmy Sigona

|
Hello!
I’m Jimmy Sigona, son of John, and I have lived and breathed Sigona’s Farmers Market since I was in diapers. I’ve been everything from a bagger, to the cheese department leader, and I’m now a Systems Manager. My favorite part about this business is the connection with the people in our community. I love handing one of you a sweet juicy peach from a local farm and watching the delight on your face as I carve a sample and tell you to try it. One of my passions is cooking and knowing that any meal I make will taste better because we have the best produce around, thanks to my cousin Rob’s buying expertise!
Thank you for supporting our family business. I think we have some of the most loyal customers around and I really appreciate that! I hope to see you in the store soon so I can share with you some of the many little treasures we carry that I am in love with. Looking forward to getting to know you by name (as well as by your favorite foods)!

Monica Sigona

Hi Everyone!
I’m Carmelo’s daughter Monica Sigona. I’ve worked in the family business off and on since I was just a kid. I have only the fondest memories of growing up visiting Grandpa Sigona’s farm and soaking in all of the knowledge he gained through the years working his land. He’s got the biggest leathery mitts to prove it! I remember a very unique tree he grew. It had 3 types of fruit! To him, this was a matter of simple splicing- to us kids, magic! His ollalieberries are amazing and if you could only taste the homemade pies that he and grandma bring to all the parties! I recently graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and have again joined the family business to work on innovative projects within Sigona’s to improve services to you, our customers. Please come in and visit! Always looking forward to meeting you!
Cheers!
Monica

Debbie Sigona

Hello Everyone!
I’m Debbie Sigona, Paul’s wife. I was raised in Morgan Hill, CA on my parents’ farm. They grew, at one time or another, strawberries, prunes, raspberries, cucumbers (for pickles) and cherries. Now that they are retired they have persimmons and apple pears. I feel lucky I can see something grown and ripened in my Dad’s orchard being sold to our customers at Sigona’s. This is truly a family business as I work with my children, my niece, my nephews, my brothers-in-law and my husband here at the store!

Quincey Sigona

|
Hi,
I’m Quincey Sigona, Paul’s daughter. Just like my cousins Jimmy and Monica, I’ve worked at Sigona’s Farmer’s Market since I was a kid. I’ve done everything from bagging, working the floor, and sampling to marketing and advertising. I remember when I was a young girl that I got to ride under the carts that the produce guys use to cart our fruits and vegetables with. Currently I’m here to serve you by placing our hot deals in the newspaper, sending out newsletters to you over the internet, and creating an in store flyer for your shopping convenience. Look forward to seeing you here at the store!

Gloria Gandolfo

|
Hello!
My name is Gloria Gandolfo. I have been with Sigona’s Farmers Market for 23 years.
I am one of the key leaders here at Sigonas and I manage the cashiers and oversee a few other departments at both of our locations. I do my best to train and set up training programs for our employees that provide you with exceptional customer service. I’m always eager to hear feedback so please let me know if you have any.
Some of my favorite fruits are the unique ones that are of exceptional quality and pretty much can only be found at Sigonas. There are Bing Cherries from Morgan Hill, Blenhiem Apricots from Santa Clara Valley, Ollalieberries, Kent Mangos from Mexico, and my all time favorite local Santa Rosa Plums. I can go on forever!
I’m not the only one here at Sigonas that gets so passionate about what we carry. There is a whole line of us waiting to just spread the word. “You have to try this stuff, it’s so special.” So please stop by so we can share our store with you and your family. For those of you who are our regular customers. I’d like to thank you for your loyalty.

Liliana Solorio

|
Hello,
My name is Liliana and compared to my co-workers I am new in this business. I joined Sigona’s 18 months ago but feel like I have been here forever. I love the environment. Unlike my associates you won’t see me around the store. I work behind the scenes. I am the Office Manager. My job is to make sure all our customers that can’t come to the store still enjoy our goodies! I overlook the gift basket program, the outside orders, and snack deliveries and multitask to make sure our customers are always happy.

John Nava
 |
Nava, as we all call him, has been with Sigona’s for over 30 years. He has seen the company grow from a little fruit stand in Morgan Hill to what it is today and he’s been like a brother to the Sigona family.
An excellent bowler, he’s also got talent directing and writing movies, all types of design and he’s a master at anything creative! He’s got the flair that helps bring “Navaland” to Sigona’s.
Nava spends his time between the two locations and can be found out on the floor working his magic and introducing customers to some of the fantastic Sigona’s Signature and specialty items he has brought in. This man is 100% dedicated and you can be sure you’ll find his heart and soul in everything he touches.

Cal Takeshita

|
Cal has been with Sigona’s from its start in Redwood City. As far as produce knowledge goes, this man is rock steady and meticulous. He has no tolerance for mistakes when it comes to caring for delicate leaf and green items that come in from our local farmers. The cleaning and preparation of these greens is crucial in order to maintain maximum freshness. Cal especially wants the vegetables to be cared for in such a way that they will stay fresh and last longer when our customers get them home. He’s extremely knowledgeable about produce, making him the perfect person to talk with while you’re visiting at the Stanford location! |
